Heritage/Culture
The Forgotten World Highway is just one of the things to do in Taranaki. A popular scenic route along State Highway 43 travelling over gorges and saddles, following the Heritage trail along the way. Don't forget to stop off at the iconic Whangamomona pub. Visit Puke Ariki in New Plymouth, a Museum, library, research centre all in one or take a trip to Tawhiti Museum in Hawera, life sized models have been created on site depicting Taranaki history. Taranaki's Pioneer Village on the outskirts of Stratford is an outdoor museum featuring historic buildings and memorabilia dating back to the pioneer days.
